Mathura: District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh conducted a surprise inspection of various departmental offices and sections at Rajiv Bhawan on Tuesday, reviewing their functioning and the progress of official work. He directed officers to improve record management, cleanliness and service delivery, warning that negligence or unnecessary delays in government work would not be tolerated.

The DM also instructed all officials to remain present in their offices between 10 am and 12 noon every day to ensure public grievances are heard and addressed without delay.

Review of Departments and Pending Work

During the inspection, Singh visited the offices of the Chief Development Officer, District Panchayat Raj Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Programme Officer, District Minority Welfare Officer, District Backward Classes Welfare Officer, District Empowerment Officer for Persons with Disabilities, Chief Veterinary Officer and District Development Officer.

He also inspected the Project Director's office under the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), the District Election Office and the office of the Deputy Commissioner, MGNREGA, among other departments.

The DM sought updates on departmental activities, pending cases and the maintenance of official records. He instructed staff to keep files properly organised, maintain cleanliness and treat visitors respectfully. Public complaints, he said, must be resolved on priority with appropriate attention to the quality of disposal.

Focus on Timely Services and Better Office Facilities

Singh said officials must work in line with the government's objective of providing transparent and time-bound services to the public. He asked them to improve their working practices and ensure punctual attendance.

He also directed officials to arrange painting and renovation in certain parts of the Rajiv Bhawan premises, develop the park with greenery and install railings around it. Old and damaged furniture was also ordered to be assessed and declared unusable wherever necessary.

Prerna Canteens May Be Introduced in Hospitals

During the visit, the DM stopped at the Prerna Canteen near the main entrance of Rajiv Bhawan, had tea and enquired about the food items available there.

He appreciated the initiative, which is operated by women from self-help groups and provides an opportunity to strengthen their livelihoods. According to the DM, Prerna Canteens are currently functioning in all 10 development blocks of the district, offering hygienic, nutritious and home-style food.

He said the administration would explore opening similar canteens in hospitals, using the existing model. The initiative could provide nutritious meals to patients and their attendants while creating additional livelihood opportunities for women associated with self-help groups.

Chief Development Officer Dr Pooja Gupta, DRDA Project Director Arun Kumar Upadhyay, District Development Officer Garima Khare, District Economics and Statistics Officer Mohit Kumar Baghel and other departmental officials and employees were present during the inspection.
