Lucknow: On Tuesday evening, a massive explosion rocked the Farrukhabad residence of former MLA Vijay Singh—who is currently serving a life sentence in a Varanasi jail for his involvement in the murder of Brahmadutt Dwivedi, a powerful BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh. The blast was so severe that the ceiling of the basement was blown away, and all the windows of the four-story building were shattered. Five people, including Vijay Singh's two sons, sustained injuries in the incident; one of the injured has been referred to a higher medical center for advanced treatment. The loud explosion triggered panic and chaos in the surrounding area.

How did the incident take place?

Family members and supporters were gathered in the drawing room of Vijay Singh's residence, located in the Nala Machharatta area, on Tuesday when the sudden, loud explosion occurred. Those injured in the blast included the former MLA's sons—Avinash (alias Vicky) and Abhishek (alias Sikki)—as well as supporters: Bhaiyalal Chauhan (former *Pradhan* of Noorpur), Rasu (a resident of Mittukuncha), and Ishu (a resident of Nala Machharatta). The injured individuals were immediately rushed to a hospital.

Among the injured, Bhaiyalal—who sustained serious injuries—has been referred to a higher medical facility. The sound of the explosion reverberated across a wide area, causing frightened residents in the vicinity to rush out of their homes. The blast blew off the basement ceiling and caused the false ceiling in the living room to collapse; the windows were also extensively damaged, with all the glass panes in the multi-story building shattering and scattering across the premises.

How did the police react?

Upon receiving the information, District Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar Dwivedi and Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh arrived at the scene. The police have cordoned off the entire premises and have initiated an investigation into the incident. The District Magistrate stated that the injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment, and teams have been deployed to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh confirmed that six people were present inside the house at the time of the blast; of these, five sustained injuries. Vijay Singh's wife, who was on an upper floor, remained unharmed and is safe. A thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The police team investigating the explosion at former MLA Vijay Singh's residence has established that the blast originated in the basement. Further investigations are being conducted to determine the specific causes behind the explosion. The footage, along with the DVR, has been seized. Meanwhile, the injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital; one of them is in critical condition. The injured include the former MLA's sons—Vicky and Sikki—as well as Bhaiyalal (former Pradhan of Noorpur), Ishu (a resident of Nala Machharatta), and Rasu (a resident of Mittukuncha). Police investigations have revealed that only six people were present in the house at the time of the explosion. Currently, a forensic team—along with other specialized teams—is working to ascertain the cause of the incident and to bring the entire situation to light.
