Dadri (Noida): Farmers affiliated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) organised a mahapanchayat and tractor rally in Dadri on Friday, raising concerns over voting rights and the electoral roll revision process. Led by district president Manoj Mavi, the demonstration highlighted the organisation’s demand for transparency in electoral procedures and protection of eligible citizens’ right to vote.
The rally brought farmers together to express their concerns over names being removed from voter lists and to press the government for action on issues related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Following the rally, a delegation of farmers submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Dadri, outlining three major demands.
The first was the cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision process. The organisation argued that electoral roll revisions must be conducted transparently to ensure that no eligible voter is wrongly excluded.
The second demand was the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office. The union raised allegations of discrimination in the election process and called for accountability.
The third demand sought a review of names deleted from electoral rolls and the immediate restoration of voting rights for all eligible voters whose names had been removed.
District president Manoj Mavi said the organisation would not tolerate any interference with farmers’ democratic rights. He raised concerns over the SIR process and the deletion of names from voter lists, alleging that the developments were against farmers’ interests.
Mavi warned that the agitation could be intensified if the demands were not taken seriously. He emphasised that protecting voting rights and ensuring fairness in electoral procedures remained central to the union’s campaign.
The tractor rally and mahapanchayat served as a platform for farmers to demonstrate unity and draw the administration’s attention to their concerns. Through the memorandum, the organisation sought corrective measures to protect eligible voters and address its objections to the electoral revision process.
The union maintained that voting is a fundamental pillar of democracy and called for steps to ensure that eligible citizens can exercise their franchise without unjustified exclusion.
