Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved the establishment of the Pragati Robotics Park in Greater Noida, marking a major step towards strengthening the state’s robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. Spread across 69.52 acres, the proposed facility is expected to generate more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs once it reaches full operational capacity. The project could also contribute approximately ₹2,000 crore annually in gross value added to the state’s economy.
The park’s name, Pragati, stands for Platform for Robotics and AI Growth Through Technology and Innovation. The initiative aims to promote indigenous robotics manufacturing and create an integrated environment for technology development, research and industrial innovation.
Robotics companies, technology startups, research institutions and industrial units will have access to modern facilities within the proposed complex. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said the project is expected to attract investment, strengthen research capabilities and encourage the development of new technologies.
The initiative could also help domestic businesses create innovative products and expand their participation in international markets.
How Will the Park Be Developed?
The project will be divided into two zones with separate development and investment arrangements.
The first zone will cover eight acres and be developed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) under a public-private partnership model. The Greater Noida Authority will hold a 26% stake, while the selected industrial partner will own the remaining 74%. The private partner will be chosen through a quality-based selection process.
The second zone, spanning 61.52 acres, will be developed by private companies using their own investments to establish industrial units and related facilities. According to the proposal, this zone will not create any capital investment liability for the state government.
For the first zone, the Greater Noida Authority will contribute ₹21.1 crore as equity. The state government will additionally provide an interest-free loan of ₹126.2 crore for a period of 30 years.
The state’s IT and Electronics Department will facilitate reimbursement of the lease premium for the eight-acre plot under the prescribed arrangement. Meanwhile, the SPV will receive a service fee equivalent to 5% of the revenue generated through land allotment and development charges in the second zone.
Commercial operations in the first zone are targeted to begin within 36 months of the SPV’s registration. If required, the deadline may be extended to a maximum of 48 months.
The park is expected to house robotics testing and certification facilities, rapid prototyping infrastructure, AI computing resources, motion-capture systems and specialised data laboratories.
These facilities will enable startups and entrepreneurs to test products, develop prototypes and access GPU-based computing resources at affordable rates. The project also aims to strengthen quality assessment and certification capabilities for robotics products, including CE and UL certification-related requirements.
By making these resources more accessible, the park could help companies reduce the time and expense involved in product development, testing and experimentation.
The state government expects the park to attract fresh investment and support the adoption of robotics across manufacturing, healthcare, logistics and other industrial sectors. Developing domestic technologies could create opportunities to reduce dependence on imported solutions while improving the competitiveness of Indian companies.
The project is also expected to open up skill-development opportunities for young people in robotics, AI, advanced manufacturing, testing and prototyping.
A monitoring committee will review the project’s progress. If implemented as planned, the facility could strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position in technology-driven industrial development while supporting investment, innovation and employment generation.
