Kanpur Man Dies By Suicide After Alleged Remark By Married Girlfriend

Kanpur: After a disagreement over some issue in Kidwai Nagar of Kanpur, a young man committed suicide by hanging himself after his girlfriend, who is married, said that "first die, then I will believe you love me", police said on Wednesday.

Where did the incident happen?  

The incident took place in Kanpur's Saket Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The victim is identified as Subodh Yadav, who is a 35-year-old and worked in a private company. His father, Sheshnath, passed away a few years ago due to illness. He is survived by his mother, Lalli Devi, and two sisters, Neetu and Khushboo.  

His family found his body hanging from a noose inside their room around 12 am on Monday night. The family said the boy had been in love with a girl for a month.

What did the family say?

According to Som, the deceased's cousin, Subodh began talking to a young woman, who lived near his home, about a month ago. Gradually, they grew close and developed a romantic relationship.

According to family members, Subodh brought the girl to his home on Monday and an argument. It is alleged that during the argument, the girl told him, "First, die, and then I'll understand how much you love me." After this, the girl left, and late that night, Subodh hanged himself.

What did the police say?

The police have seized the deceased's mobile phone. Call details, chats, and other digital evidence will be examined to establish the true nature of the conversations between the two before the suicide. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and electronic evidence.

According to the Kidwai Nagar police station, prima facie the case appears to be a suicide. The allegations made by the family are being seriously investigated. If the investigation reveals sufficient evidence of incitement to suicide by someone, legal action will be taken under the relevant sections.
