Lucknow: A tragic fire occurred at a commercial building in the Aliganj area of Lucknow on Monday afternoon. According to media reports, 14 lives lost and leaving several others injured. The building housed a computer training institute, a library, an animation center, and a pet shop. The incident leaving numerous students trapped as thick smoke engulfed the structure.
CM Yogi Adityanath rush to the spot and supervise the situation. According to witnesses, several bodies being recovered from the premises as emergency services worked through the afternoon. Amid the situation, stucked people tried to escape the raging flames and suffocating smoke, some students jumped from the upper floors of the building, sustaining severe injuries.
An eyewitness, Aman, described the scene: "We saw thick smoke billowing from the building when we arrived and managed to pull five to six people to safety. One man jumped from the building in sheer panic and was seriously injured."
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak rush to the spot and monitored the situation. He stated that the rescue operation was nearing completion following an intensive room-by-room search. To bypass the heavy smoke and flames, blocking the main access points, fire brigade personnel broke through a second-floor wall from an adjacent house to enter the building. Exhaust fans were deployed to clear the dense smoke as teams searched every room and washroom, particularly investigating reports that a few students had locked themselves inside a restroom to escape the fire.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims. He has directed senior administrative officials to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and ensured that those injured receive the best possible medical treatment at local hospitals.
