Vrindavan: A large number of devotees gathered at the Siddhapeeth Radhabag-based Maa Katyayani Temple on Friday, the sixth day of Sharadiya Navratri, to seek the blessings of the goddess. Devotees began arriving at the temple early in the morning. On the auspicious occasion, Maa Katyayani was adorned in a special Kanjeevaram saree brought from South India. Seated in a beautifully decorated floral bungalow, the goddess's divine appearance captivated devotees. The temple also observed the Tirobhav Mahotsav of its founder, Siddha Saint Keshavanand Maharaj, with devotion.
The temple premises were attractively decorated for the special worship of Maa Katyayani on the sixth day of Navratri. The traditional Kanjeevaram saree, renowned for its craftsmanship and brought from South India, was the highlight of the goddess's adornment.
According to the temple's chief priest, Kamal Tiwari, artisans took approximately one month to prepare the specially commissioned saree. Featuring traditional artistry and intricate craftsmanship, the saree enhanced the goddess's divine appearance.
Devotees were particularly enthusiastic about witnessing the beautifully decorated floral bungalow and the goddess's magnificent adornment. They performed rituals and offered prayers, seeking happiness, prosperity and well-being for their families.
Chief priest Kamal Tiwari said that the sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Maa Katyayani. According to religious belief, during the Dwapara Yuga, the gopis of Braj worshipped Maa Katyayani to seek Lord Krishna as their husband.
This traditional belief gives the worship of Maa Katyayani special significance in the Braj region, attracting devotees who visit the temple to offer prayers and seek the goddess's blessings.
Various delicacies were also offered to the goddess as bhog during the religious observances.
Alongside the Navratri celebrations, the temple observed the Tirobhav Mahotsav of its founder, Siddha Saint Keshavanand Maharaj.
Devotees performed worship before the saint's statue and paid tribute to him, remembering his spiritual contributions and legacy.
The celebrations combined traditional rituals, devotional fervour and elaborate floral decorations, making the sixth day of Navratri a special occasion for devotees visiting the revered temple in Vrindavan.
