Ayodhya: Just three days after the SIT submitted its preliminary report to the government in the Ram Temple donation theft case, two major resignations have taken place. Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Trust, and Anil Mishra, a key Trust member, has resigned from their post, according to sources.

Who has accepted their resignation?

According to sources, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) National General Secretary Bajrang Lal Bagda has accepted Champat Rai's resignation. Several senior VHP officials, including Bajrang Lal Bagda, are currently in Ayodhya.

The SIT submitted its preliminary report to the government on Monday in the Ram Temple offering theft case. Following this, a case was registered on Thursday, and eight people were named as accused, seven of whom were arrested. Among the accused is Champat Rai's close associate and driver, Tinnu Yadav.

What is there in the report?

This significant decision was taken following the SIT's initial report's strong recommendations. The first FIR in the case has already been filed based on the SIT's recommendations. The resignations are being linked to the investigation's progress.

According to sources, this development comes after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's firm stance and the SIT's preliminary investigation report. Previously, the first FIR in this case was filed based on a complaint by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Eight people have been named in the FIR, while the role of several other unidentified individuals is also being investigated.

What about the investigation?

The SIT is currently investigating alleged financial irregularities. The investigating agency is examining the accused's bank accounts, properties, mobile records, and alleged transactions. Sources say the SIT's preliminary report made some strong recommendations, which has accelerated the investigation.

In this context, the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra are also being linked to the investigation. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already indicated a transparent and impartial investigation into the matter. The government states that if the investigation establishes any irregularities or responsibility at any level, legal action will be taken against those involved.
