Ayodhya Temple Donation Probe Intensifies; SIT Compiles Evidence, FIR May Follow (X@ShriRamTeerth)
Ayodhya: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged irregularities related to offerings to Ram Lalla and other temples in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex is likely to submit its preliminary report to the Chief Minister's Office on Sunday. On the basis of this report, there is a possibility of registering an FIR in the case. Sources associated with the investigation say that the team has conducted a detailed examination of the documents, statements and financial records collected during the last one week. Some points have emerged in the initial findings, on the basis of which the way for further legal action may be opened.
After questions were raised regarding the amount of offerings and management of jewellery in the Ram Temple complex, the Uttar Pradesh government had formed a three-member SIT to investigate the matter. The team formed under the leadership of Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Dr. Vijay Vishwas Pant started the investigation from June 15. After the allegations came to light, the government took the matter seriously and ordered a time-bound investigation. In the first phase, the SIT was asked to submit its preliminary report within seven days.
During the investigation, the team interrogated the employees involved in counting the offerings in the temple, the officials of the trust and the concerned bank officials. Apart from this, records related to the process of collection, counting and depositing the offerings in bank accounts were also scrutinized. The investigating agencies tried to understand the links of financial transactions by matching many documents. According to sources, some procedural lapses and inconsistencies in records have also come to light.
The SIT has collected a large amount of documents, digital records and other evidence during the investigation. It is being said that to keep important information safe, data has been preserved in many digital storage devices. The team has also reviewed the records from 2021 till now to find out if there were any irregularities in the utilization and accounting of funds.
During Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's recent visit to Ayodhya, SIT officials met him and informed him about the progress of the investigation. The chief minister had given instructions to complete the investigation in a fair and transparent manner. He had made it clear that no matter who the culprit is, action will be taken against him as per law and no one will be given protection.
On the basis of the facts revealed in the preliminary report, the SIT can now move towards filing a case. The investigation team believes that if criminal aspects are confirmed, legal action will be necessary against the persons concerned. This is the reason that after the report is submitted, the further process at the police and administrative level can be expedited.
After the preliminary report, SIT will continue its detailed investigation. The team has to submit the final report within 15 days. During this, aspects related to land purchase, utilization of donated funds, approval of expenses and banking process will be investigated in depth. It is believed that after the final report comes, the complete picture of the case will become clear and the course of action will be decided against those responsible.
