Dehradun: Rain continues in Pithoragarh district. The administration is on alert due to incidents of debris falling on roads. Meanwhile, the issuance of Inner Line Permits for the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra has been suspended until further notice. The district administration reportedly took this important decision to ensure the safety of travellers and vehicles due to the arrival of monsoon in the Himalayan region and the ongoing heavy rainfall.

What did the official say?

According to a notice issued by the district administration, the issuance of Inner Line Permits (ILPs) for the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra has been suspended with immediate effect until further notice. The administration stated that this decision was taken for the safety of pilgrims due to adverse weather conditions, heavy rainfall, and potential landslides. The administration urged pilgrims not to plan their journeys until the weather normalizes and further notice is issued.

The district administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by this decision. The Adi Kailash Yatra route faces the risk of landslides during the monsoon season in several sensitive areas, including Tawaghat and Mangti, beyond Dharchula. Incessant rains could disrupt roads, cause boulders to fall, and cause route closures, potentially affecting the safety of pilgrims. Keeping this in mind, the administration has decided to suspend the pilgrimage as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, inner-line permits will not be issued to pilgrims for this pilgrimage.

What did the weather department say?

The Meteorological Center has predicted thunderstorms and rain in Pithoragarh on Friday as well. This year's Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra began on May 1. Devotees broke many old records in just two months. According to released data, 52,441 pilgrims from across the country visited Adi Kailash and Om Parvat during May and June.
