PM Modi's Message to Amarnath Pilgrims: 'May Your Journey Be Safe and Auspicious'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday has written a letter to the pilgrims going on the Amarnath Yatra, urging them to adopt five resolutions. The annual Amarnath Yatra began on Friday as the first batches of pilgrims left the twin base camps in Baltal and Nunwan to start their journey.

What did PM modi say?

PM Modi said that the Shri Amarnath Yatra, associated with the darshan of Baba Barfani, is an eternal chapter of our spiritual tradition and cultural unity.

Taking to X, PM Modi in letter to devotees of Amarnath Yatra said that "The Amarnath Yatra, connected with the darshan of Baba Barfani, is an eternal chapter in our spiritual tradition and cultural unity. My wish is that this journey of the devotees of Shiva be safe and auspicious in every way! On this sacred occasion, my letter to the pilgrims linked with five resolutions."

What did PM Modi wrote in his letter?

In his letter, PM Modi wrote that participating in the sacred Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir is a great privilege. The process of seeing Baba Barfani begins with the first puja on Jyeshtha Purnima. Devotees from every corner of the country look forward to participating in this sacred pilgrimage.

When did the Yatra start?

The batches of pilgrims, including men, women and sadhus, left from the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, in south Kashmir's Anantnag, and Baltal base camp in Sonamarg area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal, at the first light of the day.

What about five resolutions?

The main point of the Prime Minister's message is an appeal to devotees to adopt five pledges during the pilgrimage.

  • First resolution: We should follow the rules of cleanliness during the Amarnath Yatra and contribute in maintaining cleanliness throughout the Yatra route.
  • Second resolution: We will diligently follow all administrative orders, traffic rules, and safety instructions. During the journey, we will be especially careful about slippery conditions and cold conditions due to rain.
  • Third resolution: We pledge to use at least 10 percent of our travel expenses to purchase local products in the spirit of "Vocal for Local." This will also strengthen the livelihoods of families and youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Fourth resolution: Let us gift a sapling to our brother or sister on the concluding day of Baba Amarnath Yatra, i.e. on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and take forward the campaign 'One Tree in the Name of Mother'.
  • Fifth resolution: Let us perform our duties honestly throughout the year with the spirit of Nation First and make our active contribution in building a developed India.
