Tech News:Telecom operator Airtel has announced a major update for its prepaid users by offering them six months of free Apple Music subscription. Earlier this year, in February, Airtel entered into a strategic partnership with Apple to provide its customers complimentary access to Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Initially, the benefit was rolled out only for Airtel’s Wi-Fi and postpaid subscribers, but now the company has extended this facility to millions of prepaid users across the country.

Six-Month Free Trial Through Airtel Thanks App

According to reports, many prepaid customers have started receiving notifications and banners in the Airtel Thanks app, inviting them to activate Apple Music without paying anything. Once redeemed, users can enjoy six months of unlimited music streaming at no additional cost. The offer is a part of Airtel’s effort to add more value to its prepaid plans and strengthen customer loyalty in India’s highly competitive telecom market.

What Happens After Six Months?

After the free trial ends, prepaid users who wish to continue listening to Apple Music will need to subscribe to one of Apple’s paid plans. The regular price of Apple Music’s individual plan in India is ₹119 per month, while the family plan is available at ₹179 per month. For students, Apple offers a discounted plan at just ₹59 per month, making it the most affordable way to enjoy premium music streaming in the country. However, students must verify their identity with a valid student ID to be eligible for this plan.

How to Redeem the Offer

To claim the free Apple Music trial, Airtel prepaid users will need to recharge with select eligible plans. After recharging, the subscription can be activated through the Airtel Thanks app by linking an existing Apple ID or creating a new one. Once the account is linked, customers will immediately get access to Apple Music’s full library, including playlists, curated recommendations, and exclusive releases.

A Step Towards Digital Lifestyle Integration

This move highlights Airtel’s focus on bundling digital lifestyle services with its telecom offerings. By expanding beyond data and calling benefits, the company is trying to give customers a holistic experience that includes entertainment and content streaming. In today’s digital age, where music, video, and OTT platforms have become an integral part of people’s daily lives, such offers help telecom operators strengthen their customer base and retain subscribers for the long term.

Strong Competition in the Market

India’s telecom market is witnessing tough competition, not only in terms of pricing but also in value-added services. With Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea offering their own tie-ups with streaming services, Airtel’s partnership with Apple gives it a unique edge. Offering Apple Music—one of the most premium global streaming platforms—for free positions Airtel as a brand that is both innovative and customer-centric.

The extension of this offer to prepaid users is expected to benefit millions of Airtel subscribers across India. For customers, this means six months of free access to Apple Music, a service that otherwise comes with a significant cost. For Airtel, it is another step towards building an ecosystem that combines connectivity with entertainment, making prepaid plans more attractive and ensuring customers stay engaged with the network.
