Apple's Foldable iPhone May Arrive in a Smaller, Pocket-Friendly Form: Report (X)

New Delhi: Apple's first foldable iPhone could look very different from other foldable phones on the market, according to reports. Instead of a big, wide screen on the outside, the device may pack a surprisingly compact outer display, one that's smaller than typical flagship phones.

How small is it?

Recent reports suggest the outer screen of the foldable iPhone may measure about 5.3 inches when folded, which is even smaller than the screen on Apple's former iPhone mini series. This size choice is unusual for foldables, where rivals often use larger cover displays designed for everyday use.

What does this mean for users?

Analysts say Apple's focus might be on making the main experience inside. When unfolded, the phone is expected to open up to a larger display that's closer in shape to an iPad screen, broader and better suited for reading, videos, and multitasking. The smaller outer screen may be meant mostly for quick access to notifications and simple tasks.

When could it launch?

Apple has not confirmed any details about a foldable iPhone. But reports suggest a possible late 2026 release, likely alongside Apple’s next flagship iPhone line. However, some analysts note the timeline could slip into early 2027 as Apple works through final design choices and production planning.

Industry reports say that the foldable iPhone may range between $2,000 (around Rs 1,78,000) and $2,500 (around Rs 2,22,500). If accurate, this would make it Apple's highest-priced iPhone to date.
