New Delhi: Ongoing wars and rising international tensions in many parts of the world are causing a gas cylinder shortage. This has led to a sudden surge in calls for gas bookings. According to reports, calls for gas bookings increased by 8 to 10 times compared to normal times, causing Indane's booking system to temporarily crash. This resulted in many users being unable to book cylinders via phone, app, or website, resulting in difficulties. In some cities, people went directly to gas agency offices, leading to long queues.
Researchers believe that due to the international situation and concerns about gas supply, people began booking cylinders en masse, putting a sudden strain on the system. This raises questions about why the LPG booking system crashed and what impact it could have on users. This is why, in many places, people encountered difficulties booking cylinders through IVRS numbers or missed calls. In some places, people even went directly to gas agency offices, leading to long queues.
According to Moneycontrol, the number of calls to Indane's IVRS and missed call numbers for bookings suddenly increased significantly. The number of calls was approximately 8 to 10 times higher than normal. In a message sent to its dealers, the company stated that the influx of calls put the entire system under tremendous pressure, and customers sometimes faced difficulty connecting.
Due to technical issues in the system, people in many cities were unable to book gas cylinders. In some places, the mobile app and website were also not working properly. Consequently, many people went directly to the gas agency offices, leading to long lines and significant crowds. Many customers complained that they tried calling multiple times but could not book.
The government has also implemented a new rule regarding domestic LPG cylinder booking. Now, after booking one cylinder, one will have to wait at least 25 days to book another. Previously, this period was 21 days. The government says this step has been taken to prevent people from booking more cylinders than necessary and to ensure that all users have access to gas.
