New Delhi: A recent viral video of a Kerala wedding has gone viral all over the internet after the bride's father turned into a walking Paytm QR code, inviting guests to send their blessings (and gifts) digitally. Earlier, people used to give money as blessings in decorative envelopes, but in today’s digital age, even this tradition seems to be changing.

What Did the Father Do That Went Viral?

In the viral video which is widely shared on social media, the bride's father can be seen stitching the UPI QR code on his pocket and roaming all around near the guests at the wedding. In the viral video clip it is seen that guests simply scanned the QR code and sent the money instead of giving cash in a paper cover. The video shoot starts with the lively wedding scene, but soon the camera pans towards the bride's father on his smiling face; the online QR code has grabbed everyone's attention at the wedding.

How Did People React on Social Media?

As soon as the video appeared online, users flooded it with funny and creative comments. One person wrote, “Digital India’s wedding edition!” While another joked, “No cash, only scan and sanskar!” The idea quickly went viral, with people amused and surprised by the smart and modern approach.

Is This the Future of Wedding Gifts?

Many people called this step practical and eco-friendly since it saves both cash and paper. However, some users felt it was odd to make digital transactions at a traditional event like a wedding. One person commented, “Now even wedding gifts are online; this is too much!”

How Does This Reflect India’s Growing Wedding Market?

Even though the trend seems unusual, it perfectly fits with India’s fast-growing wedding economy. According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), around 46 lakh weddings are expected to take place across the country between November 1 and December 14, generating business worth nearly Rs 6.5 lakh crore. In Delhi alone, about 5 lakh weddings are expected to contribute around Rs 1.8 lakh crore to the economy.
