Viral: The world's tallest woman, according to Guinness World Records (GWR), Rumeysa Gelgi, recently posted a rather peculiar yet inspiring experience flying. GWR posted a video on Instagram in which Gelgi is seen traveling with Turkish Airlines lying on a stretcher due to her special needs. "How does the world's tallest woman travel and visit her friends? Turkish Airlines provided Rumeysa's flight for her recent adventures to the US and UK," the caption read.

In the video, Gelgi said her trip was exciting as she wore a big smile after being escorted onto the plane by airline staff; she even said, "I am literally so excited, my heart beats fast."

Why lie down on flights for Rumeysa Gelgi?

Gelgi shared in a comment on the video that she sleeps throughout flights because of scoliosis. "Plus, I have 2 long rods and 30 screws in my spine which prevent my spine from bending or twisting. So I always have to keep my back straight and flat. Flying on a stretcher is the safest—and only—option for me to travel by air," she shared.

Social media hails Gelgi and Turkish airlines

Another added, "We love you, Rumeysa Gelgi." Many appreciated the airline's thoughtful arrangements, with one user writing, "This woman is a national treasure for the Turks.
