Google’s Gemini app has launched a new feature called Nano Banana, which is quickly become the talk of social media. The tool lets people turn ordinary photos into highly realistic images, including portraits with famous world leaders. What started as a small experiment has become a major trend on social media, with Instagram and X flooded with these striking AI-generated pictures.

How to make your own AI picture

If you want to try the trend yourself, it’s simple to do

Step 1: Install the Gemini app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 2: Log in with your Google account.

Step 3: Upload your photos.

Step 4: Type in a prompt. You can write your own or copy one that’s already popular online.

Step 5: Press the send button. Gemini will create the image, which you can then download and share.

One popular example of a prompt says:

“Create a cinematic hyper-realistic documentary-style photo. This person in this picture sits confidently between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at a rustic wooden table.”

Users can replace the names with any leader.

About Nano Banana

Nano Banana is the newest addition to Google Gemini. It creates highly realistic 4D-style portraits that make pictures look almost alive. Simple selfies can turn into dramatic, movie-like shots, often blurring the boundary between art and reality. The excitement around Nano Banana has also pushed the app to the top of the charts. In the last few weeks, Google Gemini has passed ChatGPT to become the most downloaded free app on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
