Viral Video: A video claiming to show Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates at the Mahakumbh Mela has been debunked as old footage circulating since December 2024. The video, which sparked widespread online interest, shows a man resembling Gates but has no evidence linking the billionaire to the festival.

The Mahakumbh Mela and Its High-Profile Visitors

The Mahakumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, kicked off in Prayagraj on January 13, drawing millions of devotees to the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The event has attracted numerous high-profile personalities, with Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, being among the notable visitors. However, there has been no official confirmation of Bill Gates attending.

The Origins of the Viral Video

The video in question began circulating in December 2024, long before the Mahakumbh Mela began. It was shared widely across social media platforms, including Instagram accounts followed by millions. However, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that Bill Gates visited India for the event, and he has not mentioned any trip to the country on his social media profiles.

Gates’s Absence Raises Questions

Given Bill Gates’s history of documenting his trips abroad, his absence from the Mahakumbh is notable. When he visited India in 2024, his every movement was tracked and publicized. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that he would secretly visit a high-profile event like the Mahakumbh without sharing any details online.

Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the individual in the video, who bears a striking resemblance to Gates, is not the billionaire. The video’s circulation is simply a case of misidentification, with no credible evidence linking Gates to the Mahakumbh Mela.
