From Driving Trucks to Winning Big: Punjab Man Wins Rs 1.3 Crore in UAE Draw (OpenAi)
New Delhi: The draw of Abu Dhabi Big Ticket brought happiness for 53-year-old Kulwant Singh from Punjab, who has been supporting his family by driving trucks in Dubai for almost 18 years. Kulwant, along with his five friends, has won a prize of 5 lakh dirhams, i.e. approximately Rs 1.3 crore. The special thing is that this group was trying its luck by buying tickets every month for the last two years. This long-continued effort finally resulted in victory. Kulwant said that he wants to use his share of the prize money to meet the needs of his family and for household-related work.
According to a report, Kulwant Singh has been living with his family in Jebel Ali area of Dubai since 2008. He learnt about Big Ticket several years ago through online videos. After this, he started participating in it with friends about two years ago. Since then the group had been buying tickets every month. This time Kulwant had chosen the ticket number by chance rather than any special calculation or strategy. They had no idea that this ticket would bring such great news to their group. There was no limit to the happiness of Kulwant and his friends when they got the news of victory.
Kulwant Singh will not get the prize of 5 lakh dirham alone, as the ticket was bought along with his five friends. In such a case, the prize money will be distributed among the group members. Kulwant said that he wants to use his stake for the financial needs of the family and the house. For Kulwant, who has been working abroad for a long time, this amount can be helpful in carrying forward his future plans. He also hinted that he and his friends will continue to participate in Big Ticket draws in the future.
In the same draw, 30-year-old engineer Muhammad Ijas C. from Kerala also won a prize of 1 lakh dirham, i.e. about Rs 26 lakh. He has been living with his family in Ajman for the last seven years. According to the report, Ijas had chosen the ticket number by combining his son's date of birth and year of birth. The news of victory was also special for him because behind the number was a memory related to his son. Ijaas said that he wants to spend his share in the prize on his son. He has also been buying tickets with a group of friends.
Indian expatriates won total consolation prizes worth 19.5 lakh dirhams in Big Ticket Series-291. Apart from Kulwant Singh, Ajit Kumar Vannarath of Kerala won the prize of 2.5 lakh dirhams. Whereas, Seton Kumar Chauhan and Muhammad Ijas C. received one lakh dirhams each. Ajit Kumar Vannarath has been living in Oman for the last ten years and has been participating in Big Ticket for almost a decade. He had also bought the ticket with a group of friends. In this way, economic happiness came to many Indian immigrants in a single draw.
The story of Kulwant Singh offers a glimpse of the life of those immigrants who work hard abroad for years to provide for their families. However, winning a lucky draw is entirely dependent on chance and no prize is guaranteed. The most important thing for Kulwant at the moment is to help the family with his contribution and complete the plans related to the house. The win has become a memorable one for the group that has been buying tickets with friends for nearly two years.
