Trending News: A few days ago, a LinkedIn post went viral showing a Gurgaon-based employee explaining why he prefers leaving work late instead of going home early. Tanmay Jain, who works at an e-commerce company, said it’s not because of extra work or a toxic work culture, but to avoid the city’s heavy evening traffic. Now, another post about the city is gaining attention. A man spending his last day in Gurgaon before leaving for a new job in Bangkok shared a heartfelt post about how he found the city unexpectedly beautiful on his final day.
His message, posted on Reddit’s r/Gurugram community and titled “Last day in Gurgaon,” read: “So, it’s my last day in Gurgaon, moving to Bangkok for my job. I was just roaming around on my bike, had an evening snack at Shri Ram Dhaba, and was heading back to Sector 30. Gurgaon is quite empty right now—most people are away on trips or back home due to the long weekend.
He added, “I just realised today how beautiful this city actually is. I always criticised Gurgaon, saying it’s worse than Delhi. But today, I noticed its positives — 24-hour stores, great party spots, and the Venice ofc.”
With mixed emotions, he also quoted a line from Passenger’s famous song: “Maybe you only love her when you let her go.” He ended his post by asking others, “Does anyone else feel positive about Gurgaon?”

The viral Reddit post struck a chord with many people. Some shared their own experiences, saying how they also have complicated feelings about the city. One user commented, “Since you are leaving, you feel good.” Another wrote, “Love it or hate it, I can’t imagine living anywhere else! I have a very toxic relationship with Gurgaon.” Another person shared, “Every city has its flaws; you just have to find your way through it.” Despite its heavy traffic, rising property rates, and uneven infrastructure, Gurugram often grows on its residents. As the Reddit post shows, the city’s charm can be felt even more clearly on a quiet evening ride or a last meal at a roadside dhaba.
