Noida Pizza Shop Owner Arrested After Viral 'Spitting on Dough' Video

Noida: A CCTV clip from a pizza shop in Noida is rapidly going viral on social media. In the video, a Muslim man is allegedly seen spitting on a pizza dough while preparing food orders. The incident sparked outrage and raised questions about the cleanliness of the food and beverages served there. Police have taken the accused into custody and has begun questioning him.

Where did the incident happen?

The accused, who is identified as Mujammil, runs a food outlet named 'Pizza Hunt' in Chaura Village of Sector 22 Noida. The shop falls under the Sector 24 police station jurisdiction. 

The approximately one minute 22 second video quickly went viral on social media, prompting strong reactions from local residents and organizations.

What is there in the video?

Hindu Raksha Dal activists claimed that they learned about the incident from local residents. They then viewed CCTV footage from the shop, which showed the accused engaging in suspicious behaviour while preparing pizza. 

According to Sonu Sharma, the president of the organisation’s Khoda unit, on Sunday, the activists caught the accused engaging in a similar act. He was subsequently handed over to the police. However, some reports also stated that the accused was assaulted before being handed over to the police.

What did the accused say?

During police interrogation, Mujammil denied the allegations against him. He claimed that he was simply blowing air on the pizza base to remove excess flour, not intentionally spitting on the food. 

Police officials stated that the matter has been taken seriously. The viral video and CCTV footage are being investigated. As a preliminary investigation, the accused has been detained and questioned.
