New Delhi: Amidst an LPG shortage in the country, a 'jalebi' vendor in Prayagraj has devised a clever workaround—a 'jugaad'—that has now become a hot topic of discussion on social media. This shopkeeper has constructed a stove using discarded engine oil (waste lubricant) and is now using it to prepare and sell his 'jalebis'.

Did LPG Crisis Force Shop Closure?

According to reports, the 'jalebi' shop owned by Aman Gupta, a resident of Prayagraj, had to remain closed for a few days. The reason was a severe shortage of LPG cylinders. Due to the unavailability of cooking gas, he was compelled to keep his shop shut for approximately four days.

A Unique Solution Through Ingenuity

Despite the closure, Aman Gupta did not give up. Drawing inspiration from ideas found on the internet and social media, he constructed a specialized stove. Instead of LPG, this stove runs on waste engine oil (used lubricant)—a substance typically considered useless and discarded. Aman claims that the flame produced by this stove is just as intense and efficient as that of an LPG burner. He is now using this very stove to prepare *jalebis* daily, keeping his business running without relying on gas cylinders.

Is Fuel Available at a Low Cost?

A significant advantage of this innovative workaround is that he obtains his fuel at a very low cost. Aman collects the waste oil from nearby vehicle service centers, where it is often available for free or at a nominal price.

Did The Unique Method Win Over the Public?

Aman Gupta's approach has now become a major talking point in the locality. People are flocking to his shop not only to enjoy his *jalebis* but also to catch a glimpse of this unique stove. Many are hailing it as a brilliant example of ingenuity (*jugaad*) and hard work during challenging times.

What were Questions Raised Regarding Safety and the Environment?

However, some observers have also expressed concerns that burning waste oil could generate smoke and pollution; therefore, they emphasize the importance of ensuring that this method is implemented in a safe and responsible manner.
