Two-headed, three-eyed calf (Social media)
Trending News: A shocking and extremely rare incident has come to light in Tikri village, located in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. On the morning of June 18, a local cow gave birth to a calf with two heads and three eyes. This unusual birth has become a matter of intense curiosity, drawing villagers and visitors from nearby areas eager to witness the phenomenon firsthand.
The cow’s owner, farmer Ramesh Chaudhary, said the calf was born around 6 a.m. As soon as word spread about its unusual appearance, a crowd began to gather. While some locals view the birth as a divine miracle, others consider it a rare biological occurrence. Though the calf’s condition is stable, it is unable to stand on its own and is having trouble feeding.
From a scientific perspective, this condition is known as polycephaly, where a fetus does not fully separate during development, resulting in more than one head on a single body. This anomaly is extremely rare in animals, especially in large mammals such as cows. Veterinary experts believe the calf may be an example of Dicephalus Parapagus, a form of conjoined twinning where the embryo only partially divides into two individuals.
The birth has stirred spiritual sentiment in the village. Many locals have started worshipping the calf, considering it an incarnation of a deity. Several villagers adorned it with flower garlands and performed rituals, including breaking coconuts as offerings. Elderly residents remarked that they had never seen anything like it in their lifetimes, calling the event “divine.”
To ensure the calf receives proper care, a team of veterinary doctors has been dispatched to Tikri. District Animal Husbandry Officer Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary stated, "In such cases, the chances of long-term survival are usually low. However, if the calf can feed properly and avoid infections, it might survive for some time." Currently, arrangements are being made to feed the calf using artificial methods, as it struggles to nurse on its own.
Footage and images of the calf have gone viral on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. While many are calling it a sign of divine intervention, others are engaging in scientific discussions about the condition. The rare case has triggered both fascination and debate online.
This remarkable birth has not only captured the attention of the local community but also sparked discussions in scientific and veterinary circles. Whether the calf will survive in the long term remains to be seen. For now, however, Tikri village has become the center of national attention due to this highly unusual and thought-provoking incident.
