Woman Confronts Man For Taking Her Photos at Marine Drive (X)
Mumbai: A incident has sparked online discussion, a video from Marine Drive in south Mumbai is drawing attention on social media after a young woman confronts and stops a man who was allegedly taking her pictures without her consent.
In the clip posted online, the woman spots the man holding his phone in a way that looked like he was secretly photographing her.
She then walks up to him and questions his actions. In the video, the woman can be heard asking the man his name and confronting him about taking pictures of her without their permission.
The video has drawn widespread attention and sparked conversations about women’s safety, privacy and respect in public spaces.
The incident took place in the evening at Mumbai's Marine Drive.
The woman shared the video with the caption, "A reminder that women’s bodies are not public property."
Sharing the incident, the woman said that, "I caught a man the age of my father secretly taking inappropriate photos and videos of me thanks to a kind stranger who alerted me I was able to confront him and see the evidence myself."
"It is sickening that even in a crowded public space we are treated like objects for someone’s ‘’collection’’ I made sure he was shamed in public," he further wrote.
In the video, the man, who identifies himself as Rajiv, apologises and says, "Sorry, I won't do it again," after the woman questions him, "Who gave you the right to take pictures of anyone?"
The woman also questions his conduct in the public, saying, “Don’t you have daughters in your family?"
In the video, the woman can also be heard saying that he had taken photos of another woman earlier in the day.
"You took pictures of someone else in the afternoon. Now you took pictures of me."
She then asks him to delete any pictures he took.
At the time of reporting, it wasn’t clear whether any formal police complaint had been filed in relation to this incident.
