Parama Ekadashi 2026: Why This Rare Ekadashi Is Special; Know Shubh Muhurat, Puja Vidhi (X)
New Delhi: Ekadashi Tithi is considered to be of special significance in Hinduism, but Parama Ekadashi, which falls in Adhik Jyeshtha Maas, is considered the most auspicious and fruitful of all Ekadashis. This year, the Parama Ekadashi fast will be observed on June 11.
Parama Ekadashi is considered extremely sacred and significant. Fasting and worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day bestows immense virtue upon one. From both religious and scientific perspectives, this fast is considered beneficial for both the body and mind. It improves mental peace, concentration, and physical health.
There are usually 24 Ekadashis in a year, but when Adhik Maas (Purushottam Maas) arrives, the number increases to 26. Ekadashis falling in Adhik Maas are considered particularly fruitful and virtuous. One of these is Parama Ekadashi , which is extremely rare because it occurs only in Adhik Maas.
It is customary to observe a special five-day fast on Parama Ekadashi. The fast can be started before or on the same day as Ekadashi. During this period, grains are not consumed, and only fruits, milk, or liquids are consumed. If possible, observing a waterless fast is considered best. On the day of the fast, one should bathe in the morning, wear clean, preferably white, clothes, and worship Lord Vishnu as per the prescribed rituals. Chanting mantras like Om Namo Narayanaya and Vishnuve Namah during the puja is considered auspicious.
Parama Ekadashi holds a special place among all Ekadashi fasts. It is believed that observing this fast eliminates poverty and financial obstacles. It also creates the possibility of having children and bestows fame and recognition in life. From a religious perspective, this fast is considered extremely fruitful, as it bestows salvation and the blessings of Lord Vishnu. If someone wishes to fulfill a special wish, they should observe this fast with devotion and proper worship of Lord Narayana.
