New Delhi: Jeep is preparing to launch an all-new SUV in India next year in 2027. The company has publicly stated that this will be the first new model that will refresh its entry-level Indian portfolio. In the last few years, Jeep has launched fewer new models and has maintained its presence in the market through special editions of existing models.
The company has previously indicated that the first vehicles of the new lineup will be available from 2027. This time is considered to be a strategic turning point for Jeep. The company has said that the new models will be developed as per the expectations of Indian customers.
Jeep has made it clear that it wants to make India a major export base. Ranjangaon plant will no longer be limited to Asia only. There are plans to send the India-made model to Africa and North America as well as right-hand drive markets like Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
The company now aims to increase the local share from around 65–70 percent to 90 percent. Its objective is to reduce costs and strengthen the supply chain. More local parts could also mean price competitiveness and lower repair costs.
Today Jeep India sells the Compass, its three-row Meridian, the off-roader Wrangler and the flagship Grand Cherokee. The company will also keep bringing special editions of these models from time to time so that customers remain interested. With the arrival of new models, old personalities will also get a new life.
More localization and larger manufacturing base will put pressure on prices. Special edition will increase options. The company is also introducing programs to improve service and ownership experience. Buyers will directly benefit from these steps.
If Jeep is successful in its localization and export plans, the Indian auto ecosystem will get a boost. The supplier network will increase. Employment opportunities will increase. Also, an increase in foreign demand will impact both the quantity and quality of production.
Overall, Jeep's move is not just a new model. This is a big indication of the company's India-centric strategy. By working on all these local partnerships, special editions and export pivot, Jeep is trying to strengthen its hold in the Indian market in the next few years.
