MG4 EV of second generation launched in China (Social Media)
Auto News: In China's Chengdu Auto Show 2025, Mg Motor has introduced the MG4 EV of its second generation. The company says that this car is not only bigger and lighter than before but has also made major changes in its design and technology. Given the price and features, this electric car is going to give tremendous competition in the mid-segment EV market.
The MG4 EV is designed on the modern E3 electric platform of SAIC. This time the size of the car has been increased before, due to which both its look and the dispute on the road have become strong. The length of the new car is 4,395 mm, the width is 1,842 mm and the height is 1,551 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,750 mm. There are also many changes in the design. The new projector headlamps, split honeycomb grille and sporty side air ducts make its front profile more attractive. At the same time, the interconnected LED tail lamps, roof spoiler and new bumper design give it a premium touch.
The biggest feature of the new MG4 EV is its battery technology. This will be the world's first production EV, with a semi-solid-state battery. This 70 kwh battery will give a range of 537 km according to CLTC standards. However, the company has made it clear that this battery will not be available at the time of launch and will be introduced to customers from September 2025.
Currently, LFP battery options have been given in Standard variants. It will get a driving range of 437 km with 42.8 kwh pack and 530 km with a 53.9 kwh pack. The special thing is that through fast charging technology, this car can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes, which makes it extremely convenient for everyday needs.
The MG4 EV has a six-in-one integrated electric motor, which generates 161 horsepower and 250 newton meters of torque. The company has reduced the weight of the car by 150 kg and now it has been reduced to 1,485 kg. Lightweight not only improves its performance but also upgrades battery efficiency and driving experience. The top speed of the car is stated to be 160 km per hour.
The interior of the new MG4 EV is completely full of modern technology. It has a 15.6-inch big touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster in the top variant. At the same time, a 12.8-inch display will be available in the lower variant. The car has the support of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor and Oppo UI, which makes its smart connectivity experience even smoother.
This includes Adas (Advanced Driver Assistance System) package for safety and driving assistance. It has features like a 360 ° camera, 12 ultrasonic sensors, high-speed navigation on autopilot (NOA), lane keeping assist, auto parking and auto lane change, making it equipped with future technology.
MG Motor has launched this car in China with two variants. The base variant is priced at ₹ 68,800 i.e. about ₹ 8.50 lakh. At the same time, the price of the top variant is 102,800 i.e. about ₹ 12.71 lakh. The company believes that the new MG4 EV will attract customers in global markets besides China thanks to its design, range and features.
