Samrat Choudhary Transfers Social Security Pension to One Crore Beneficiaries, Issues Key Directive (X)
Patna: Taking a big step for the beneficiaries of the Social Security Pension Scheme, the Bihar government has directly transferred an amount of Rs 1,423.94 crore into the bank accounts of 97.84 lakh people. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary sent this amount to the accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The government has also announced to celebrate the 10th of every month as 'Bihar Pension Day' to make the process of pension distribution more regular and transparent.
The objective of the Social Security Pension Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the people of the state who need government help for regular income. This includes eligible beneficiaries of different categories including elderly, widows and disabled people. With the government sending the amount directly to the bank account, the beneficiaries will have less need to visit government offices for payment.
The government has used the DBT system to transfer the pension amount directly to the bank accounts. In this system, the payment goes directly into the beneficiary's account, thereby reducing the possibility of any deduction or delay at the middle level. Besides, digital record of payment is also ready. This helps in making the process of monitoring the scheme and reaching the funds to the beneficiaries more systematic.
The government has announced to fix a fixed date for pension distribution. Now 10th of every month will be celebrated as Bihar Pension Day. Its objective is to ensure timely payment to pensioners and solve their problems on priority basis. Monitoring of pension related complaints and pending cases is also expected to be done under this system.
By getting pension on time, elderly, widowed women and disabled beneficiaries will get financial support for their daily expenses. This amount is especially important for such families where the pensioner has no other regular source of income. Due to DBT, the role of middlemen is also eliminated as the payment comes directly into the account.
This initiative of Bihar government is being considered an important step towards making the payments of social security schemes more transparent. The government's emphasis on digital payment system is clearly visible due to the transfer of funds to a large number of beneficiaries simultaneously. In the coming times, efforts will be made to make the process of payment and grievance redressal more effective through Pension Day.
Pensioners are advised to keep their bank account related information and necessary documents updated. DBT payment may get stuck if there is any discrepancy in the bank account. In such a situation, beneficiaries should keep checking the status of their bank account, Aadhaar related information and records related to the scheme from time to time.
