New Delhi: Gold and silver prices on Thursday surged marginally higher in early trade. The pressure on precious metals has increased amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, strong US economic data, and a firm stance on interest rates. Its impact is clearly visible from the international market to the Indian domestic market. 

What are the latest gold and silver rates on MCX?

In the international market, Spot gold gained 0.4 per cent to $4,080.38 an ounce, while US gold futures for August delivery advanced 1.1 per cent to $4,078.

MCX gold rate on Thursday was trading 0.18 per cent lower at Rs 142,530 per 10 grams. MCX silver futures, on the other hand, were trading about 0.53 per cent lower at Rs 217,010 per kg.

Did the price decline or increase?

Prices of precious metals, which had been at record highs for the past few days, are now easing. Fluctuations in the international market and profit-booking by investors have also led to a decline in the prices of both gold and silver in the domestic market.

The details of the prices recorded in major cities across the country on Thursday morning are as follows. 

Delhi

24 carat: Rs 142,170 per 10 gram
22 carat: Rs 130,323 per 10 gram

Mumbai

24 carat: Rs 142,420 per 10 gram
22 carat: Rs 130,552 per 10 gram

Chennai

24 carat: Rs 142,970 per 10 gram
22 carat: Rs 131,050 per 10 gram

Kolkata

24 carat: Rs 142,360 per 10 gram
22 carat: Rs 130,497 per 10 gram

What about silver price?

Along with gold, silver prices are also facing huge fluctuations in the market. However, silver prices in the South are a bit expensive compared to the northern cities. The price of a kg of silver in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Chennai and Kerala is continuing to remain at Rs 2,25,300. At the same time, the price of a kg of silver in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and other northern parts of the country is trading at Rs 2,39,900.
