Ethanol-Free Fuel Costs Rs 167.35/Litre: Know the Price of Regular Petrol (X)

New Delhi: Despite the increase in the prices of crude oil, the prices of petrol and diesel have not changed in the country even today. Oil companies have kept the rates in major cities the same as before.

Why did crude oil rise?

At the beginning of the week, Brent crude rose by about 1 percent to reach 84.48 dollars per barrel. At the same time, American WTI crude is also trading around 78.89 dollars. In the last few trading sessions, crude oil prices have increased by more than 5 percent. The increasing tension in West Asia and uncertainty related to Iran are considered to be the main reasons behind this rise. There are no positive signals regarding talks between Iran and America, due to which there is increased concern in the market. Apart from this, there is uncertainty regarding the Strait of Hormuz. This is the most important oil route in the world and the energy security of the world depends on the supply of oil passing through it. If there is any disruption here, global oil prices may rise further.

Is XP100 petrol expensive?

Talking about premium fuel, XP95 is priced at Rs 109.24 per litre in Delhi. Whereas XP100 is much more expensive than normal petrol. Its price in Delhi is around Rs 167.35 per litre. XP100 has a 100-octane rating and was launched in December 2020 specifically for high-performance vehicles. The government is now also promoting E20 fuel. It contains 20 percent ethanol and 80 percent petrol. According to the Automobile Research Association of India, it is safe for vehicles that are compatible with E20. But owners of old vehicles are still sceptical about its use. Overall, Indian consumers have not yet been hit by the rise in the international market, but prices may be affected further if Brent goes above 85 dollars  and the Hormuz crisis deepens.
