New Delhi: Government oil companies have released the latest prices of petrol and diesel for June 28, 2026. After four consecutive price hikes last month, fuel prices remain stable in most cities of the country today. However, minor changes have been seen in some cities. In such a situation, it is important for drivers to know the new rates of their city before leaving home.
In Delhi, petrol is being sold at Rs 102.12 and diesel at Rs 95.20 per litre. Petrol in Mumbai is Rs 111.21 and diesel is Rs 97.83 per litre. At the same time, companies have released the latest rates in other cities including Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Noida, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Patna.
The highest increase in the prices of petrol and diesel was recorded in Bhubaneswar today. Here petrol has become costlier by Rs 1.52 and diesel by Rs 1.47 per litre. After this, petrol has reached Rs 110.49 and diesel Rs 102.15 per litre.
During May 2026, government oil companies had increased the prices of petrol and diesel four times. In just 11 days, the prices of both the fuels had increased by about Rs 7.5 to Rs 8 per liter. Since then, no major change has been made in the prices.
According to JP Morgan report, the margins of government oil companies have improved due to softening of crude oil prices in the international market. If crude oil prices remain below $80 per barrel and refining margins remain strong, companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum may see improvement in their financial results.
The prices of petrol and diesel in the country are decided on the basis of the price of crude oil in the international market, the position of the rupee against the dollar and taxes. Government oil companies release new rates every morning at 6 am taking into account the average crude oil price and foreign currency exchange rates of the last 15 days.
The prices of petrol and diesel vary from city to city due to VAT imposed in each state, excise duty of the central government, transportation costs and commission of petrol pump dealers.
