NLSIU Fellowship 2026: Graduates Can Earn Rs 50,000 Monthly, Apply By October 30

New Delhi: National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru has released the notification of Research Fellowship 2026 for the candidates working in the field of research. The application process for this fellowship program starting from January 2027 has started. The university has invited applications for a total of 20 fellowship posts in different categories. These include 10 posts of Graduate Research Fellowship, for which selected candidates will be given fellowship of up to Rs 50,000 per month. The last date to apply is 30 October 2026 at 5 PM IST.

For which fellowship posts are applications invited?

According to the information released by NLSIU, this time applications have been invited for research fellowship in three different categories. These include 10 posts of Graduate Research Fellowship. Under this category, the candidate will be given an amount of Rs 50 thousand every month. However, the final remuneration may be decided keeping in mind the educational qualification of the candidate, experience in the relevant field and the nature of the fellowship.

The university has given separate information about the posts and conditions in the remaining fellowship categories in its official notification. Therefore, it is important for candidates to check the eligibility and conditions of the respective fellowship before applying.

What kind of research projects can you work on?

This program is especially for the candidates doing research in areas like law, social sciences, and public policy. NLSIU seeks to promote research that leads to new theoretical ways of looking at a subject or to improvements in existing institutional arrangements.

Along with disciplinary, interdisciplinary research has also been given space by the university. This means that there are opportunities for research linking law with society, policy, administration or other related subjects.

Will it be necessary to live on campus during the fellowship?

This is an important aspect of this fellowship. Selected candidates will have to work on their research while staying at the NLSIU campus. The University has clarified that the Fellows will be expected to remain present on the campus for the duration of the fellowship. Therefore candidates who are planning to do this fellowship along with job or any other responsibility should understand this condition carefully before applying.

The last date to submit applications for January 2027 intake is 30 October 2026 at 5 PM IST. Application has to be made through the Google Form available for the respective fellowship.

How will the selection be done?

According to NLSIU, in case of a large number of applications, the university will not contact all the candidates. Only the candidates selected after the preliminary process will be called for interview. After this the selected candidates will be contacted.
