Aamir Khan Breaks Silence on 'Love Jihad' Row After Marrying Gauri Spratt: 'None of My Wives Changed Religion' (X)
Mumbai: After widespread debate on social media regarding his third marriage, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has broken his silence on the controversy and clarified that his wife, Gauri Spratt, is not Hindu but Christian, and that none of his wives ever converted their religion.
While speaking on the controversy regarding his marriage with Gauri Spratt, Aamir Khan said that "the truth is that ours is a very inclusive family. Both my sisters are married to Hindus; my daughter is also married to a Hindu. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian."
The actor further added, "Neither Gauri, Kiran nor Reena converted their religion, as we had civil marriages. Gauri is not even Hindu, she is Christian, and not even a practising Christian at that. Life is getting more comical as time passes."
Several politicians and religious organizations have spoken out against the marriage, even accusing him of love jihad.
Aamir Khan has finally broken his silence on the matter, stating clearly that neither of his partners has converted to Islam. He also stated that Gauri is actually a Christian. A Muslim organization has issued a fatwa against the actor for marrying a non-Muslim.
According to reports, Maulana Chaudhary Ifraheem Husain, the Shahi Chief Mufti of the Muslim personal Darul Ifta in Uttar Pradesh, has issued a fatwa against Aamir. According to him, a Muslim man is not permitted to marry a non-Muslim woman unless she converts to Islam.
The Bajrang Dal also protested against the actor's third marriage with Gauri Spratt. Maharashtra government minister Nitesh Rane has even labeled Aamir Khan a brand ambassador of "love jihad."
Now, Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya has announced a reward of Rs 5 crore for the one who kills Aamir.
Aamir Khan registered his marriage with Gauri Spratt on July 5 at the age of 61. This is Aamir's third marriage.
He first introduced Gauri officially on his 60th birthday and revealed they had known each other for over two decades before beginning their relationship. During his interviews, Aamir Khan had also revealed that he already considers himself emotionally and mentally committed to Gauri by stating his peace with her, saying 'Ab jaake Main Mukammal Hua'.
Aamir and Gauri have also been living with each other happily for the past few months in an apartment building a stable life.
Gauri Spratt, who was previously associated with Aamir Khan Productions, has a seven-year-old son, Quinn, from her previous marriage, while Aamir Khan was married twice before this relationship with Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children, Junaid and Ira. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the former couple has a son, Azad. Aamir and Kiran announced their separation in 2021.
