Many people are calling the film a whistlworthy entertainer and also praised the main cast, especially Sunny Deol’s commanding presence on screen, the action sequences, dialogue and song.
Taking to X, a viewer wrote, "Border 2 is a complete package of war, action, emotions, and patriotism. Sunny Deol's performance is outstanding and Varun Dhawan gets a heroic climax. The songs like Ghar Kab Aaoge and Mitti Ke Bete are tear jerks. Overall a thrilling watch."
Many have also praised the acting and action performances of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan.
An X user after watching the film said, "Just watch border 2 movie. My review:
Ahan Shetty -- Solid and promising. Brings raw energy, aggression, and commitment. Varun Dhawan stole the show will his acting skill. Border 2 ka experience theatre mein hi best hai."
For many viewers the film was power-packed, emotional, and patriotic.
An X user said that, "Sunny Deol is pure fire, the war sequences are massive, and the film hits hard with pride and sacrifice. Old-school patriotism with big-screen spectacle must watch."
Social media has lit up with both praise and criticism. But there are also sharp comments about the film’s execution and pacing, with a few early viewers calling out weaker elements.
Calling the film cringeworthy, an X user wrote, "Border 2 is quite a cringeworthy movie and falls into the same bracket as Gadar 2. Poor VFX, below-average music, and unnecessarily emotional scenes. Sunny Deol’s illogical shouting and screaming make it unbearable. You never feel connected to the story. Diljit and Ahaan Shetty delivered great performances."
Another user wrote, "Film Border 2 tries to capitalize on patriotic emotions but ultimately delivers a disappointing and cringe-worthy experience."
Even one user called the VFX quality worse than Raja Saab, "A movie that milks money in the name of nostalgia and patriotism. The VFX quality is worse than even Raja Saab and it could easily be the worst movie of 2026. Performances feel dull and overacted with lots of fake screaming. Avoid it"
In Mumbai, some early screenings were delayed due to late delivery of the film prints to theatres. This led to short-term frustration among audiences waiting for the first shows.
Despite that, most cinemas reported busy halls by mid-day. Long queues and packed auditoriums reflected strong interest in the film.
'Border 2', which is directed by Anurag Singh, is expected to take a massive opening at the box office, with figures of Rs 32-35 crore. If this happens then the film will become the biggest openings of Diljit, Varun, and Ahan's careers, while the second-biggest for Sunny after 'Gadar 2'.
