Mumbai: Aditya Dhar's film Dhurandhar has a strong start at the box office since its release. There were initial expectations, but the way the film attracted the audience to the theaters in the first two days has surprised even the trade analysts. In just two days of its release, the film has reached the Rs 50 crore club and looking at the pace, it is believed that the Rs 100 crore mark is also not far away.
Initial reports from Sacnilk say that the film did a business of around Rs 31 crore on the second day. Although the official figures are yet to come, but if this estimate is correct then the total collection of the film will be around 58 crores.
The film had earned around Rs 27 crore on the first day, which is a very strong start for an opening day.
An interesting aspect of the film's collection is that it has now become the sixth highest grossing film of Sanjay Dutt's career. It has left behind titles like Baaghi 4, Double Dhamaal, All the Best and Shamshera.
The film has also comfortably surpassed the lifetime collection of Ranveer Singh's film Circus, which had earned around Rs 35 crore.
The story of Dhurandhar is set in the backdrop of Pakistan, with Ranveer Singh playing the role of an Indian spy. The film is inspired by true events and this spy thriller has become a huge topic of discussion among the audience.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film stars Akshay Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sara Arjun are seen in important roles. Rakesh Bedi is also seen playing an important role. Ayesha Khan and Krystle D'Souza are seen in a special song, which has also caught on on social media.
As soon as Aditya Dhar's name comes up, the audience remembers Uri: The Surgical Strike, which did a spectacular business at the box office. For this reason, there was already excitement about Dhurandhar. Aditya's previous films—Uri and Article 370—both received good reviews. In such a situation, the audience's expectations for Dhurandhar had increased even more, which the film has fulfilled well in the first two days.
If the film manages to survive in the coming weekend as well, then it is almost certain that it will join the Rs 100 crore club. Based on the response of the audience, it is clear that Dhurandhar is going to be in the news in the coming weeks also.
