Mumbai: A dispute had been brewing between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar for some time now. This conflict originated with the film 'Don 3'. The filmmakers alleged that Ranveer had backed out of the project just 10 days before shooting was scheduled to begin. Attempts were made to resolve the matter through mutual consent; however, when these efforts failed, assistance was sought from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). According to recent reports, the FWICE has ruled in favor of the filmmakers, and news has emerged that Ranveer has been banned.

Why was Ranveer Singh Banned?

In light of his sudden withdrawal from the film 'Don 3', the FWICE has issued a "Non-Cooperation Directive" against Ranveer Singh. Essentially, this signifies an official declaration of non-cooperation against the actor. A ban has been imposed on Ranveer, barring him from working within the industry. Furthermore, the film industry has been directed not to engage in any professional collaboration with Ranveer until he provides a resolution regarding the ₹45 crore financial loss incurred by the makers of *Don 3*.

The FWICE also stated that, following the receipt of the complaint, three separate notices were dispatched to Ranveer Singh at 10-day intervals. However, no response was received from his end. Consequently, the Federation decided to hold a press conference to ensure the industry was apprised of their decision. Subsequently, an email was received from Ranveer Singh asserting that this matter did not fall under the FWICE's jurisdiction and, therefore, they should refrain from intervening. Following this exchange, the FWICE held a press conference today to announce its verdict on the matter.

**Withdrawal from a Film Poses a Threat**
The Chief of the FWICE stated that the organization views the entire film industry as one large family, wherein every individual—regardless of their specific art form or department—contributes to the success of any given project. The Federation considers all artists, technicians, workers, producers, and directors to be integral members of this extended family. The FWICE maintains that the sudden withdrawal of a senior and established actor from a project poses a significant threat to the entertainment industry as a whole. Furthermore, a request has been made to all producers within the film industry to raise their voices against such behavior, stand with us in the fight against negativity, and take a firm stand on this issue.

Did Farhan Akhtar File a Complaint?

Farhan Akhtar filed a complaint with the Federation in April. This complaint stated that Ranveer Singh had signed a three-film contract with Excel Entertainment. In this complaint, producer Farhan Akhtar sought compensation for the financial losses incurred during the pre-production phase of the film. Reports further indicate that when the Federation attempted to resolve the dispute by engaging in a dialogue with Ranveer Singh, the actor refused to discuss the matter. The Federation also stated that they remain willing to collaborate with the actor in the future to resolve this issue.

What is the Background of the Case?

It is worth noting that a few years ago, Farhan Akhtar announced the film 'Don 3' under the banner of his production house. The first glimpse of the film featured Ranveer in the role of 'Don.' Filming was scheduled to begin, but the cast members eventually dropped out. According to reports, Kiara Advani was the first to exit the project due to her pregnancy, followed by news of Vikrant Massey's departure. Ultimately, just ten days before filming was set to commence, Ranveer Singh also withdrew from the project. The actor's representatives stated that the film's production had faced delays and that the actor was not satisfied with the script; there were creative differences between the two parties.
