Zareen Khan's Mother Passes Away At 65 In Mumbai After Battling Prolonged Illness

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Zareen Khan's mother, Parveen Khan, has passed away after a prolonged illness on Wednesday in Mumbai, her team informed in a statement. The actress's mother had been seriously ill several times over the past few years and had to be hospitalized. 

What did the team say in the statement?

On Wednesday, Zareen Khan's team issued a statement, which read, "This is to inform that our beloved Ms Parveen Khan, mother of Zareen Khan and Sana Khan, has departed peacefully to her heavenly abode on the 8th of April."

The statement further informed about the funeral, stating Funeral - 10 am, April 8, Versova Muslim Kabrastan, Amdheri West, Mumbai."

Zareen Khan's mother's funeral was held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Versova, Mumbai.

Why did Zareen took break from social media?

Zareen frequently spoke about her mother's health on social media, asking fans to pray for her and sharing her well-being. 

Last month in her Instagram stories, Zareen had shared, "Mom's out of the ICU...but still in the hospital. Please continue keeping her in your duas/ prayers. Much needed (sic).”

The actress also took several breaks from social media to care for her mother. However, she never revealed what her mother was suffering from or what had happened.

When was Zareen’s mother hospitalized?

In October 2025, Zareen's mother was hospitalized, and the actress appealed to fans for prayers for her in a social media post. Zareen's mother remained hospitalized from October 2025, but was discharged in March 2026. 

Earlier, in 2022, Zareen's mother was admitted to the ICU. In 2016, Zareen's mother underwent heart surgery, and the actress took a break from filming to care for her.

Did Zareen celebrate her birthday?

On February 23, Zareen shared a news about her birthday, which falls on the fifth day of Ramadan, that her mother was hospitalised and her birthday celebrations would not take place.

She wrote, "It's the 5th of Ramadan today which is my Islamic Birthday. Those who know me closely know how much I love my Birthdays. This year too I had plans of celebrating this one in a certain way but unfortunately that's not going to happen as my Mom is hospitalised."

She further added, "I would request everyone of you to keep my Mom in your prayers as that's going to be the greatest gift for me," accompanied by folded hands, heart and sparkle emojis.
