Afghan security sources said that 6 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 2 were taken prisoner in the attack in Mailwand district of Kandahar. The Taliban stated that the attacks targeted military installations used for drone strikes. According to the Afghan military, several Pakistani soldiers fled from posts, and some posts caught fire. The Taliban had previously described the Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul as a violation of the sovereignty of the Afghan Republic and vowed retaliation.
