Assam Earthquake: Tremors Hit Nagaon, Magnitude 4.5 Recorded on Richter Scale (X)
Kathmandu: There was panic among the people due to earthquake in Nagaon district of Assam in the early hours of Tuesday. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 4.5 on the Richter scale. The earthquake's tremors were felt at around 4.23 in the morning. However, till now no information has been revealed about any loss of life or property in this incident.
According to NCS, the intensity of the earthquake that occurred in Nagaon district on Tuesday morning was measured at 4.5. Feeling the tremors of the earthquake early in the morning, many people got scared and came out of their homes. According to initial information, there is no news of any major damage due to the earthquake.
The National Center for Seismology said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located about 33 kilometres below the ground in Nagaon. Due to the depth and intensity of the earthquake, it was expected that tremors would be felt in the surrounding areas as well.
At present, there has been no report of any injury to any person or damage to property due to the earthquake in Nagaon. The administration and related agencies are keeping an eye on the situation. After the earthquake, there was definitely an atmosphere of fear among the people for some time.
Earlier, late Sunday night, mild earthquake tremors were also felt in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. According to NCS, the intensity of the earthquake in Una was 2.5 on the Richter scale. This earthquake was recorded at around 11.48 pm.
The epicentre of the earthquake in Una was at a depth of about 9 kilometres from the ground. Despite its low depth, its intensity remained quite low, due to which no major damage was reported. According to officials, the situation is normal.
