International News: The Taliban, which is in power in Afghanistan, has denied any kind of talks or agreement with the US over Bagram airbase. Taliban Army Chief Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat said that no compromise would be made with foreign forces on any part of the Afghan land. Fitrat made it clear that any political or military agreement with the US on Bagram airbase is unacceptable.

US Efforts Ineffective

The Taliban army chief alleged that the US administration was trying to regain control over Bagram airbase through political means. He said, "Americans cannot take it by force. So they are trying to achieve it through political talks." Fitrat's remarks came after US President Donald Trump's warning, in which he threatened the Taliban that if Bagram airbase was not given, it would have to bear the consequences.

Support of Afghan government

Apart from the Taliban army chief, the government of Afghanistan has also refused to hand over Bagram airbase to the US. Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Yakub Mujahid said that his army is ready to protect its land for the next 20 years and the US will not be given this airbase in any condition. Zakir Jalali, political director of the Afghan Foreign Ministry, also said that Afghan people will not accept foreign soldiers in their country.

Bagram Airbase's strategic importance

Bagram Airbase is very important strategically in Afghanistan. It was the main base of the US Army from 2001 to 2021. Now again the US administration is eyeing this base, and that is why the Trump administration demanded to hand it over.

Taliban stance Tough

The Taliban has repeatedly made it clear that it will not accept the pressure of any foreign strength in its area. Fitrat said, "We are talking about Bagram airbase, but we are ready to give even an inch of land to anyone." This statement reflects the strict Taliban policy regarding foreign intervention in Afghanistan.

After the attitude of the Taliban and the Afghan government, it is clear that there is no agreement between the US and the Taliban regarding the Bagram airbase.
