70 Militants, 10 Security Personnel Killed In Large-Scale Attacks Across Balochistan

Balochistan: The violence that started in Balochistan on Friday night shook the entire province. At least 70 militants and 10 security personnel are reported to have been killed in coordinated attacks in different areas. The attackers targeted security force posts, police establishments and some civilian targets, following which the army and law and order agencies launched a retaliatory operation.

According to government spokespersons, search and combing operations are being conducted in many districts to bring the situation under control.

After all, where did the attacks take place?

Officials said the simultaneous attacks took place in about a dozen cities and towns, including Quetta, Gwadar, Makran, Hub, Chaman, Nasirabad and Nushki. Police posts and Frontier Corps bases were targeted at many places.

How many lives were lost?

According to the provincial administration, about 70 militants have been killed so far. Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that 10 policemen and Frontier Corps soldiers were also martyred in the attacks. Security sources say that the death toll may increase further as the operation is still going on.

Did civilians also become targets?

According to the information, some civilians were also targeted by the attackers in Gwadar. The news of death of several people of the same family has come to light, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the local people.

Were the attackers identified?

The banned organization Balochistan Liberation Army has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attacks and called it the second phase of 'Operation Hereof'. However, security agencies are also investigating whether other terrorist organizations also have a role in this.

What steps did the security forces take?

The army and police have cordoned off many areas and intensified the search operation. The explosives planted on the railway track in Nasirabad were defused in time, due to which a major accident was averted. Forces are continuously carrying out combing operations.

Is violence increasing in Balochistan?

Experts say that extremist activities have increased rapidly in the province in the last few years. The figures of attacks and deaths are continuously increasing, due to which law and order are becoming big challenge.

At present there is high alert in the entire area. The administration says that the situation is being monitored and the operation will continue to nab the culprits.
