Protest Againts Muhammand Yunus at UN:On Friday, members of the Bangladeshi diaspora gathered outside the United Nations headquarters in New York and protested against interim Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus. Protesters allege that violence against minorities has escalated since Yunus came to power, specifically targeting Hindus, Buddhists, and other religious communities.

The protesters shouted slogans, "Younus is Pakistani. Go back to Pakistan." Anger and resentment on thier face was clearly visible, especially among those who are supporters of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Concern about the situation of minorities

The protesters say that after 5 August 2024, the situation of religious minorities in Bangladesh has become extremely worrying. One protester said, "We are protesting against the illegal Yunus regime here. Violence has intensified since August 5, and many people have been forced to leave the country."

Another protester accused Yunus of pushing the country towards extremism and terrorism, calling it a "Taliban state." They demanded that religious scholar Chinmoy Krishna Das be immediately released from prison and that Yunus step down from power.

Allegations of Removal of Sheikh Hasina Government

Protesters alleged that Sheikh Hasina's democratic and secular government was illegally removed on August 5, 2024. According to them, Yunus, with the support of Islamic forces and terrorist organizations, has gradually attempted to transform the country into a semi-Taliban state.

Yunus's Statement at the United Nations

Yunus said in his address to the United Nations that last year he had given information about the mass movements in the country, and now he wants to tell how much progress Bangladesh has made in that journey. He also emphasized the role of migrant laborers and said that his services are important not only for Bangladesh but also for the countries where they work. Yunus appealed to host countries to ensure the safety and sympathy of migrants.
