New Delhi: A major aviation accident was averted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), one of America's busiest airports. The wing of a Delta Air Lines plane preparing for takeoff collided with the tail section of an Air Canada plane. The incident occurred as the Air Canada plane was being towed to its gate after arriving from Toronto. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, and airport operations continued as normal.

Accident on taxiway

According to the New York Post, officials said the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. local time. Delta Air Lines Flight 7 was proceeding down the taxiway, preparing to depart for Tokyo. Meanwhile, Air Canada Flight AC785, arriving from Toronto, was being towed to its gate. The Delta plane's left wingtip struck the Air Canada plane's tail horizontal stabilizer. Both planes were immediately grounded following the collision.

275 passengers were on board the Delta plane

Delta Air Lines said the plane was carrying 275 passengers and 15 crew members. All passengers were safely evacuated after the accident, and no injuries were reported. The airline said in a statement, "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and employees. We apologize to our passengers for the delay and the experience."

Air Canada plane also out of service for inspection

Air Canada confirmed that its plane had completed its flight from Toronto and was being towed to the gate when the contact occurred. The company said the plane will be out of service for a detailed inspection and necessary repairs. Technical teams are assessing the damage.
