Israel Hamas ceasefire: US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Israel has agreed to a preliminary withdrawal line from Gaza, which has been shared with Hamas. Trump stated that as soon as Hamas ratifies this proposal, a ceasefire will come into effect immediately, and the process of exchanging hostages and prisoners will begin. This will also pave the way for Israel's phased withdrawal from Gaza.

Trump's Statement on Truth Social

Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social: "Israel has agreed to a preliminary withdrawal line, which we have shown and shared with Hamas. When Hamas ratifies it, the ceasefire will take effect immediately. Both prisoners and hostages will be released, and preparations will begin for the next phase of withdrawal. This will bring us closer to the end of a 3,000-year catastrophe."

Pressure on Hamas

Trump urged Hamas to respond immediately to the peace plan and avoid any unnecessary delays. He warned that if Hamas does not stop violence and does not put down weapons, the entire agreement would prove to be useless. Trump assured that all possible efforts would be made internationally so that the delicate agreement would be sustainable.

Progress in the Gaza Ceasefire

According to reports, Hamas has agreed to the US president's peace plan. This proposal includes the release of Israeli hostages and the transfer of Gaza administration to the Palestinian leadership.

Netanyahu's Stance

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the release of all hostages could be announced in the coming days. However, he clarified that Israel does not intend to completely retreat from Gaza. Indirect talks between the two sides are likely to begin in Egypt on Monday, but many issues are still not clear.

Trump's 20-Point Peace Plan

Trump's plan includes several key points:

  • An immediate ceasefire
  • A full exchange of hostages and prisoners
  • A phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza
  • The disarmament of Hamas
  • The establishment of a transitional government under international supervision

The most important part of this plan is that Hamas must release all remaining hostages captured during the October 7, 2023, attack.

Current Status of the Hostages

According to reports, Hamas currently holds 48 hostages. Approximately 20 of these are believed to be alive, while the rest are presumed dead or missing. The proposal also includes a provision for the return of the bodies of deceased hostages.
