Donald Trump: 'It’s Not a Big Deal,' Dismisses Breakdown in Iran Negotiations (X)

Washington: US President Donald Trump made a big statement on Monday saying that he does not care whether Iran comes back for talks or not. His statement came at a time when the long talks between America and Iran in Pakistan could not reach any result.

While talking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, Trump clearly said, "If they come back then it's fine, even if they don't come I have no problem." His statement is being seen as a very tough stance, especially when there is already tension in the region.

What happened in the talks that lasted for about 21 hours in Pakistan?

Talks between America and Iran continued for about 21 hours in Pakistan. This conversation was considered important because an attempt was being made to reduce the ongoing tension and conflict in West Asia.

Initially the atmosphere was said to be slightly positive, but as the talks progressed, differences increased. Ultimately no concrete agreement could be reached and the meeting ended without any result. Earlier it was expected that perhaps some “middle path” would emerge, but this did not happen.

Did America accuse Iran of intending to make nuclear weapons?

After the conversation, Trump said that there has been an indication from Iran that it wants to acquire nuclear weapons. He called it against America's security policy. Trump said that America will never accept that Iran makes nuclear weapons. In his words this is the “red line” and there will be no change.

What conditions did America keep in the talks?

US Vice President JD Vance clearly said during the conversation that for any agreement, Iran will have to assure that it will neither make nuclear weapons nor develop the technology related to it. He said that unless a clear consensus is reached on this matter, the chances of any deal will be very weak.

How did Iran respond and what was its stance?

Iran said it was ready for talks, but any agreement should be “fair and balanced”. Iranian officials say that progress was seen on many issues during the talks, but things stalled in the final stages. They allege that some demands were so strict that it became difficult to reach consensus on them.

What situation can arise in future?

After the breakdown of this conversation, concern has increased at the international level. The situation remains sensitive especially regarding the stability of the oil market and West Asia.

Eyes are also on important sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz, because any kind of tension there can directly affect the global energy supply. At present, the situation is such that the lack of trust between America and Iran seems to be increasing, and it is completely uncertain whether the talks will resume in the coming days or not.
