Former President Donald Trump has revealed that he will sit down for a major interview with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk next week. Trump shared the news on his Truth Social platform, stating, "On Monday night, I'll be doing a major interview with Elon Musk. Details to follow," as reported by several US publications, including The Hill.

This announcement follows Trump's recent appearance on the live streaming platform Kick, where he was interviewed by Adin Ross at his Mar-a-Lago residence. The interview was notable for breaking viewing records on Kick, highlighting Trump's continued influence across various media platforms.

Musk’s support for Trump

Last month, Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), endorsed Trump’s candidacy. This endorsement came in the wake of an attempted assassination on Trump in Pennsylvania, marking a significant shift from the typically neutral stance of social media platform leaders, as noted by The New York Times.

Reinstatement and financial support

Trump’s account on X was permanently suspended following the January 6, 2021, attack on Capitol Hill under the platform’s previous ownership. However, Musk's acquisition of X led to Trump's account being reinstated. Additionally, Musk has committed USD 45 million per month to a new political action committee, the America PAC, which supports Trump’s campaign. This committee aims to enhance voter outreach and registration efforts to challenge the Democrats’ strong campaigns, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Political context

Trump’s upcoming interview with Musk coincides with recent political developments, including Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris's selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. The interview is expected to generate significant public and media interest given the high-profile nature of both individuals involved.
