Tibet Earthquake
An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter Scale struck Tibet at 09:27:27 IST today: National Center for Seismology (NCS)
A 4.2-magnitude seismic tremor struck Tibet on Friday, agreeing to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The shake hit the locale at 9:27 am and was felt at a profundity of 20 kilometers, with the epicenter at scope 29.19°N and longitude 87.06°E. No reports of starting harm and casualty have been detailed. Interests, Tibet could be a seismically dynamic zone since it lies at the crossing point of the Indian and Eurasian structural plates.
Tibet's location at the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates makes it prone to seismic activity. This geological feature contributes to the region's vulnerability to earthquakes. The intersection of these plates is a significant factor in the region's earthquake activity. Understanding the geological dynamics at play can provide insights into the frequency and potential impact of future seismic events in the area.
Earlier, a 4.3 concentrated seismic tremor struck Nepal at 1.33 am on Friday, the National Middle for Seismology (NCS) said. The NCS said in an X post, "EQ of M: 4.3, On: 23/05/2025 01:33:53 IST, Lat: 29.36 N, Long: 80.44 E, Profundity: 10 Km, Area: Nepal." The Seismic tremor Checking Body said the tremors were experienced at a profundity of 10 km in Nepal.
