In a shocking incident outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, a Tesla Cybertruck used in an explosion left one person dead and seven others injured. The vehicle, parked in the valet area, auto-locked after the explosion, complicating the investigation. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stepped in to assist authorities with crucial information about the vehicle's features and additional evidence.

Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill addressed reporters on Thursday, thanking Musk for his swift cooperation. “I have to thank Elon Musk specifically,” McMahill said. “He gave us quite a bit of additional information in regards to how the vehicle was locked after it exploded.” Musk provided technical details to unlock the Cybertruck and shared surveillance footage of the suspect from a charging station on the Colorado-Las Vegas route.

Cybertruck withstands the blast

The Cybertruck, though heavily damaged, reportedly maintained its structural integrity, preventing greater destruction. Musk, active on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), shared posts praising the vehicle's resilience. He stated, “Those who planned this attack picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack,” referring to the Cybertruck’s frame successfully containing the explosion.

Casualties and ongoing investigation

The explosion claimed the life of the driver inside the vehicle and left seven bystanders injured. Law enforcement is continuing their investigation, examining all possible motives and connections behind the attack. Forensic teams are also analysing the Cybertruck’s remains for additional evidence.

As authorities delve deeper into the case, Musk's involvement has underscored the role of advanced technology in modern crime-solving.
