She also revealed some thoughts about her growing, "My stepdad's Indian, and I had an amazing childhood in a half-Indian household. Indian culture blends really well with Western culture." She said.

Where did this start from?

The backlash against Indians surfaced when the announcement of Sriram Krishnan's appointment to Donald Trump's administration was made. Grimes reaction

One of the users raisd the question saying, "Would India be alright with being flooded with American culture, so much that it changes their culture greatly? Would they care that the two coexist well together?" Grimes answered back saying, "We already did this to them. It has caused a ton of problems for them."
Grimes clarified, that what she was trying to convey was the entry of so many American gadgets in India, not the presence of America. She added that perhaps if more American companies had established their operations in India, it would have provided greater job opportunities.

While another user commented on how scary it is that these statements are claimed by the well-known personalities who hold power. To this, Grimes replied by saying, “I mean, the highest power disagrees  I'm also seeing lots of powerful ppl disagreeing. It's good to remember negative comments feel louder and more numerous. If you haven't much been subjected to social media toxicity it's good to remember your monkey brain is telling you ur gonna get kicked out of the tribe and die of starvation or rape - important to fight the monkey brain impulses that social media seeks to trigger.”
