Months ahead of general elections in Pakistan, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is set to return to Pakistan on Saturday, after a four-year self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom (UK).

According to former finance minister and PML-N senior Ishaq Dar, the 73-year-old Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief will fly in from Dubai to Islamabad on a chartered plane.

After staying an hour or so in Islamabad, he will leave for Lahore to address a rally at Minar-i-Pakistan, Dar informed the media persons on Friday.

According to the party members, Nawaz is likely to land in Islamabad at around 12:30 PM and leave for Lahore after a couple of hours. It is also anticipated that he may first go to his Jati Umra residence before heading for Minari-Pakistan later in the day.

It is said that Nawaz is landing in Islamabad instead of Lahore because of obvious reasons that were necessary to make bail that was earlier granted by the Islamabad High Court on Thursday.

A PML-N senior from Punjab stated that it is crucial to put up a strong performance for Nawaz Sharif's return to prove that the party is still well-liked in Lahore, which once served as its capital.

And since there is so much more at risk in this situation, the party leadership will be successful.

He claimed that Nawaz's entry would provide the party the much-needed boost it required as the nation prepared for national elections in January. He stated that he would lead the party's polling effort and win the position of premier for a fourth time.
